FOUNDER/ EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Aviva brings over 25 years of experience as a registered nurse in intensive medical units. With a master’s degree in counseling psychology, she is currently practicing as a trauma-informed therapist. Aviva has a profound understanding and respect for the connection between body and mind.

Her career has been marked by active involvement in community-based programs that address various aspects of individual health. Through her work, Aviva has gained a deep perspective on the dynamics of family, child, and community interactions, and how these dynamics can impact the entire family in a broader context. Aviva's dedication lies in an integrated approach to overall well-being, encompassing both physical and mental health.

Drawing from her personal experience raising children with emotional and behavioral challenges, Aviva is deeply committed to ensuring that no one faces these struggles alone. She resides with her husband in the Chicago area and is the mother of six children. Aviva passionately believes that everyone deserves support through life's difficulties.
Judith Zimmerman

Director of Academic Success

A dedicated educator with over 40 years of experience empowering young minds, Judith Zimmerman brings a wealth of expertise to her work. In addition to her multiple certifications, Judith holds a BA in Psychology with a minor in Education from Roosevelt University, an MA in Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University, and an MA in Education from Northwestern University. She has spent her career guiding students toward success.

A lifelong Chicagoan and devoted family woman, Judith has spent 30 years serving the Chicago Public Schools system, with additional experience at esteemed institutions like Arie Crown Jewish Day School, Bais Yaakov High School, and Cheder Lubavitch Hebrew Day School. She is passionate about nurturing students to reach their full potential, extending beyond the classroom. Outside of education, Judith cherishes time with her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Michelle Miller

PROGRAM BUSINESS MANAGER

Michelle is a results-driven professional with a diverse career spanning academia, corporate, and non-profit sectors. A Fulbright Scholar, she holds a bachelor's degree in Communications and English, as well as a graduate degree in Anthropology. Michelle has extensive experience designing and delivering engaging programs for a wide range of learners, including universities, K-12 institutions, and community organizations.

She is a dedicated volunteer, having served The ARK in Chicago for over 25 years. Michelle is also a third-generation life member of Hadassah and serves on the national board as VP of Engagement for Club Z. At Nissa, she ensures seamless behind-the-scenes operations, allowing the team to focus on delivering impactful programs and supporting the community.

Inspired by Helen Keller's words, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much," Tziporah (Tzippy) Dukes embodies this philosophy, recognizing the power of collaboration. With over 15 years of experience and in the process of completing her bachelor’s degree in Social Work, she is a dedicated educator, advocate, and champion for individuals with disabilities. Her background includes program development, job training, and education.

Tzippy is thrilled to join Nissa as a Case Manager (part-time), leveraging her expertise in advocacy, interpersonal skills, and resource allocation to provide exceptional care and support to those who need it most. Her passion for inclusive environments and promoting independence stems from her personal experience. As a wife, mother of four, and Chicago resident, she is committed to supporting local families.

BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Meira is a dedicated professional who is passionate about empowering children to reach their full potential. Holding a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a pre-med focus from the University of Mount Saint Vincent in New York, she brings a strong foundation in understanding human behavior and development.

Meira's experience includes supporting high school-aged boys at Netivot Academy in Chicago and volunteering with Libenu for over six years, working with diverse age groups and abilities. Her commitment to inclusive support and care aligns with Nissa’s mission. Outside of work, Meira enjoys traveling, reading, art, and spending time with family and friends.
Yael Vilenski

BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Yael Vilenski is a compassionate and creative professional dedicated to supporting children and families. Currently completing her bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Gratz College, Yael focuses on Education and Psychology, building a strong foundation for her work.

Yael's experience includes studying at Maalot at Nishmas Bais Yaakov in Jerusalem and serving as a Madricha. For over a decade, she has successfully led informal camps for children with diverse social, emotional and behavioral needs. Growing up in a household with a sibling with similar challenges inspired Yael's passion to help families thrive. In her free time, Yael enjoys baking, art, gardening, and nurturing friendships and family relationships. She innovatively incorporates these hobbies into her work, engaging children through creative mediums to foster growth and connection.
